Why choose wood briquettes?

Wood briquettes are taking off in the UK – and they’re good for your fireplace or stove, your pocket and the environment.

They burn hotter and cleaner, are cheaper to buy, and much easier to store and handle – so why do so few people with open fires and wood-burning stoves use wood briquettes to heat their home?

Big in Europe, but still largely untried by many fire users in the UK – particularly in the south – those selling them claim that once you have tried briquettes, you’ll never go back to hauling piles of logs off your drive.

Briquettes deliver around 50% more heat for each pound spent than logs. They are 100% sustainable and are a low-carbon alternative to fossil fuel because trees absorb carbon as they grow.

People in the UK are finally waking up to the benefits of briquettes. They are clean and easy to store, and take up around half the space of a log pile. Until you have tried one you won’t believe how much heat they can deliver.

We all need to burn wood with a moisture content of less than 20%. The moisture content of Woodlets Briquettes is less than 10%, meaning they burn better and cause fewer chimney and flue problems.

They should be stored in a dry place because they expand rapidly if they get wet. When they burn they leave around 1% of their original volume as ash, meaning you don’t have to empty the stove as often.

New Woodlets Briquettes arriving around 20th April, now taking orders!

Woodlets briquettes are a high quality manufactured in the UK and use the same press that was used to make the very popular Verdo briquettes. So very exciting to have a high quality Scottish manufactured briquette once again!

We take our shredded wood, apply 10,000psi (pounds per square inch) of pressure, and out pop briquettes. They are entirely natural – the lignin molecules in the wood melt under the pressure and bind the wood together. They perform fantastically well in wood-burners. One briquette can last up to four hours, and big users will find they save around £150 a year compared to buying conventional logs.

Woodlets Briquettes can be broken in half – useful if you have a smaller stove.

Woodlets Briquettes are Clean Air Act complaint and carry the Ready to Burn badge

Pini Kay Briquettes

Pini Kay briquettes consist in rectangular form agglomerations with easy stacking and handling. Each packet is around 10kg and has 12 briquettes inside. Each briquette is around 20cm long.

Because of the hole in these briquettes, it reduces amount of smoke. These briquettes are produced by pressing dry chipped wood at high pressures and high temperatures. They have the maximum burning time and produce the maximum useful heat. Piny&Kay fuel briquettes are remarkably resistant to mechanical action and moisture and store well.

Pini kay Fireplace Briquette burns slowly, which gives off more heat, thus saves money. The unique technology of producing this briquette enables aesthetic combustion, without absorbing moisture from the air, and prevents contamination of heating devices.
